In an effort to boost export trade, an awareness campaign roadshow organized by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and the Bayelsa State Committee on Export Promotion has taken place in Yenagoa.

The event saw officials of the NEPC, the State Committee on Export Promotion and Exporters embark on the road show across major locations in the Bayelsa State capital to sensitize residents on the benefits of export business.

It was a carnival-like atmosphere as the Export Awareness Campaign hit Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

Staff of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and their counterparts in the Bayelsa State Committee on Export Promotion as well some exporters converged on the State Secretariat, taking the road walk through the Road Safety Road to the Yenagoa-Mbiama Road through the Ekeki Park, Azikoro Road, the Isaac Boro Express before terminating at the Federal Secretariat at Swali distributing hand bills while popular music blared from the loud speaker.

Addressing the participants, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Dr. Ebieri Jones said the road show which was the first of its kind would help trigger interest and boost export trade in the State.

State Coordinator of the NEPC, Bayelsa State Office, Mrs. Sylvia Adeneye said the roadshow was organised to increase the over 6.1 billion Dollars export earnings in the country last year.

President of Women Entrepreneurs in Export, Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Mrs. Josephine Eneyi explained that having been beneficiaries of NEPC programmes, the Export Awareness roadshow would further boost export business in Bayelsa State.

The theme for the NEPC Road Walk was ‘Wealth Creation and Empowering Bayelsa State through Non-Oil Exports’ with the hash tag #doubleyourexport
