The Nigeria Labour Congress, Rivers State Council, has commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for approving and paying the 2025 Christmas bonus to civil and public servants, including pensioners, in the state.

In a letter of appreciation by the council’s Chairperson, Comrade Alex Agwanwor, the NLC described the gesture as a demonstration of the governor’s consistent commitment to workers’ welfare since he assumed office.

The union noted that the bonus, widely reported as ₦100,000 per beneficiary, would significantly enhance workers’ purchasing power and enable them to celebrate the festive season memorably with their families.

“It’s worthy to note that since the inception of your administration, you have always endeared our hearts through your progressive approach to workers’ welfare and conditions of employment,” the letter read in part.

The NLC further hailed Fubara’s “intentional approach” to improving workers’ conditions, declaring him the “most workers-friendly governor” in Rivers State.

The labour body reaffirmed its unwavering support for the governor’s programmes and policies aimed at uplifting workers and driving development across the state.

“We reassure you of our continuous support to your administration’s programs and policies towards uplifting workers’ welfare and developmental strides in the State,” Agwanwor stated.

The union also offered prayers for divine wisdom, grace, and protection for Fubara as he leads the state.

“We remain grateful to God for the gift of you as our Governor, and pray for continuous wisdom, grace and divine protection as you continue to lead the State to greater heights.”

The Christmas bonus, marking the third consecutive year of such payments under Fubara’s administration, has been credited to workers’ accounts, sparking jubilation among beneficiaries amid the Yuletide season.
