The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has urged all Nigerians to unite in the fight against insecurity.
Mallam Issa-Onilu in his New Year message called for renewed spirit of patriotism, collective responsibility, and civic engagement to foster national peace and development
He noted that, while the government continues to intensify efforts to secure the nation, the battle against insecurity can only be won through the active involvement and cooperation of all citizens.
The NOA DG described collective action as the most effective weapon against forces threatening national peace and development, stressing that insecurity often thrives in societies where citizens feel disconnected from national affairs.
He therefore urged Nigerians to get involved in the affairs of the country and stand united against forces bent on dividing us along ethnic, religious, regional and other lines.
Issa-Onilu pointed out that restoring faith in the Nigerian project demands more than just government efforts, but calls for a widespread revival of national values at all levels.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm stance in the fight against insecurity, highlighting the recent collaboration with the United States that led to a decisive airstrike on terrorist enclaves.
Issa-Onilu described the operation as a testament to the president’s firm leadership and his commitment to protecting Nigerians, noting that such partnerships with foreign allies strengthen national security efforts and reinforce global confidence in Nigeria’s security architecture.
Speaking further, he urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and youth groups to play a more active role in promoting peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law.
Issa-Onilu concluded by wishing every citizen a year filled with peace, unity, and the fulfillment of personal and national aspirations, urging all to remain hopeful and committed to a better Nigeria.
