The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council has elected new leaders to pilot its affairs for the next three years

At the triennial delegates conference/election held in Uyo, Comrade Nsibiet John was elected Chairman, following a decisive victory.

Out of 684 accredited voters, Nsibiet polled 555 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nene Affia, who scored 92 votes, while Effiong Edet secured 21 votes and Esther Effiong got 4 votes.

In the other positions, Margaret Moore emerged as Vice Chairman with 393 votes, defeating Mkpoikana with 246 votes and Ernest Robert, 34 votes. 

For the post of Secretary, Nsikak Esenowo won with 419 votes against Michael Ufot, who had 253 votes.

Uduak Akai was returned unopposed as Assistant Secretary same as Kufre Emmanuel, Financial Secretary, Udeme Hosea,  Treasurer and Dianime Uko, Auditor.

With the overwhelming mandate, Comrade Nsibiet John now officially takes over leadership of the State Working committee of the NUJ , Akwa Ibom Council.
