Participants at the Twenty- twenty- six NDDC Management Retreat in Owerri were unanimous in the resolve that the outcome would foster growth of the commission and development of Niger Delta Region.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria in Owerri, Venue of the Retreat, Executive Director Finance and Administration,
Alabo Boma Iyaye expressed optimism that the productivity of Directors would improve significantly given the quality of thought provoking lectures by seasoned facilitators.

“Twenty Twenty Five is gone and by our assessment, we made some progress, so, we decided to take a retreat to discover new ways of achieving results; So that we can add value to the administration of the president who appointed us as executive directors.
It will also create a conducive environment for bonding among members of the management Committee and executive management”

Similarly, Director Procurement, Dr. Chuks Osuji admitted that the retreat was impactful and has equipped participants with adequate knowledge for optimum output.

“What will be the challenge of automation, we are transiting from paper to paperless. Are we prepared, do we have the workforce that is ready to accept this change?
So, these are the issues we are looking at, when are we taking off, are we taking off all at once, or are we going to phase it.
The procurement requirements are a bit stringent, but then, are we ready to do it, yes, we are ready.”

In the same vein, Director Abuja Liaison Officer NDDC, Mrs. Mary Efekhoba- NWEKE noted that the present leadership was policy driven hence the need to bring the management staff up to speed on the policy direction to sustain milestones achieved.

“The essence of this is to bring everybody to speed, to be on the same level in understanding the policy trust of this administration.
They want every head of unit, every director in the commission to understand what the commission’s mandate is, what the present administration is all about and what their roles are in achieving that mandate.”

The respondents acknowledged that the lessons learned would be a veritable compass to navigate to the next phase of the commission.
