
‎Women and youth of Niger Delta region have been assured that their interests are Protected in the Programmes of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.
‎Managing Director NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who came up with this during Youth and women conference in Owerri Imo State, told them that stipend payment for Niger Delta Youth internship Scheme would commence after anniversary celebration.

‎In continuation of the activities marking the silver Jubilee of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, youth and women conference was held to provide opportunity for the youths and women to air their views on the Programmes of the commission.
‎Addressing the gathering, Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who acknowledged the support from the youths and women revealed that the delay in payment of Youth internship Scheme stipend was to put together data from the programme and that of Project Hope, to prevent recycling of beneficiaries.

‎While encouraging the participants to register with Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, The MD, stated that Chamber of Commerce would be the channel to reach out to entrepreneurs, for agriculture and businesses growth.

‎”But one thing I can assure you is that we have concluded everything we are doing to mergeĀ data from these platforms together. So, immediately after our anniversary, the payment will start. And those payments that are supposed to have been made, we will pay them in arrears .”

‎Similarly, Chairman NDDC board , Mr. Chiedu Ebie who encouraged youths to maintain peace to attract development in their localities, gave assurance that women and youth remain prominent in NDDC Policies.

‎”The women are very special to us because everybody in this place was born by a woman. As we go along in this journey as the seventh governing board of the NDDC , we will continue to prioritize the women and youths”

‎In the same vein, IMO State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, represented by Deputy Governor, Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru while appreciating NDDC for the success already recorded, suggested that the commission do More on youth and women Empowerment.

‎In a Goodwill message, Chairman Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator ASUQUO EKPEYONG encouraged NDDC to dedicate sixty percent of empowerment programmes to women.
‎Participants at the conference were drawn from NDDC mandate states.
