The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of Godwin Akpakpan, a 300-level Computer Science student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
The student was allegedly shot dead by a security operative during a stop-and-search operation in an off-campus incident in Port Harcourt.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet investigation.
The university has expressed grief, demanded a thorough probe, and urged students and staff to remain calm to allow security agencies to conduct their investigations without interference.
