
Academic activities for the second term of 2025/ 2026 academic session have resumed in both private , public primary and secondary schools in Edo Central senatorial district of the state.
The State commissioner for Education, Dr Emmanuel Iyamu stated this in a chat with Radio Nigeria in Benin City, the Edo State Capital.
Dr Iyamu explained that normalcy have been restored in the senatorial district adding that all teachers across the senatorial district have resumed for teaching.
” All schools in Edo Central have resumed, normalcy have been restored, the Governor even twenty four hours ago, donated extra almost ten security vessels to the hunters, to the vigilantes in addition to the over a one hundred and fifty Hiluxes he has shared in the state and the four hundred motorcycles he has also distributed, there was an additional layer of security yesterday and as we can see and hear on both social media and print media, there have been no incident in the last seven two hours “.
corroboration, a parent who resides in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr Chris Omigie said teaching and learning have commenced in both private public primary and secondary schools in Edo Central Senatorial District .
Mr Omigie who spoke off record explained that as early as 8.45am some pupils were seen seated in their classes while teaching and learning took place.
Edo State Government had earlier few weeks ago announced private Public Primary and Secondary schools resumption in Edo South and Edo North Senatorial District for Monday the 12th of January 2026, while postponing that of Edo Central Senatorial district to Monday January 19th 2026.
In a public Special announcement signed by the Edo state commissioner for Education, Dr Emmanuel Iyamu which was made available to Radio Nigeria in Benin City, the decision was to enable the state Government address some exigencies to improve the welfare of the Children.
