
The President of the Senate, Dr Godswill Akpabio, has formally handed over the structure of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State to Governor Umo Eno.
The symbolic handover took place during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo.
Receiving the party structure, Governor Eno assured that the progressive movement into the party is a merger to collaboratively advance the course of development in the State and to work for the successful re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The Governor urged everyone to extend true hand of fellowship and avoid any form of discrimination or bickering, and embrace the unity and peace engendered by the movement.

The Governor assured party faithful and stakeholders in the state of his commitment to building a strong and united party structure, urging party leaders in the different wards in the state to embrace the new change
While appreciating President Bola Tinubu for his bold and audacious initiatives which he said is transforming the nation, governor Eno reiterates his commitment to building on the new and existing party structure in the state
”This is a merger and as the Senate President has said, we must, therefore, approach it with love, unity, and understanding. There has to be some sacrifices from both ends.
”Let the leadership and members bring down the rhetorics so that we all can come together in droves and build a truly united All Progressives Congress in our State.
”We have heard stories where some ward leaders have brought out lists of requirements for people that want to join the party as if it is a marriage ceremony. Honestly, that should not be. We should be happy that Akwa Ibom is getting united, and we are all better for it,” he said.
Governor Eno assured the stakeholders, especially Dr Godswill Akpabio, of his readiness to work together with the Party’s hierarchy, and support the ideology and interest of the Party for the overall good of the people of the State.
”I just want to tell our people and the party that I am here to work with you. I am here to contribute to the growth of the Party. We will work with you, and give you that honour that you so rightly deserve”.
President of the Senate, Dr God’swill Akpabio while commending the governor for his visionary leadership in unifying people from different political divides, call on people of the state to support and lean on each other irrespective of political affiliation.
Handing over the mantle of leadership and political structure of the party at the state level to Governor Eno, Senator Akpabio, who described him as a great unifier, a man of foresight and vision, said the Governor’s leadership has brought peace and unity to Akwa Ibom and repositioned it for future growth.
The Senate President described Governor Eno’s movement into APC as a merger, and not an acquisition and urged all members to join hands to work for the progress and overall interest of the State.
He called on the Governor to integrate the State stressing that his position as the Senate President is not to lord over the Governor but to protect the interest of the State to ensure its progress, so as to leave behind a legacy of love, peace and unity for unborn generations.
The APC State Chairman, Stephen Ntukekpo, as well as other leaders of the party from different levels, while applauding Governor Umo Eno for operating an inclusive government assured the President of the Senate and the Governor of the party’s loyalty, calling for the sensitisation of party faithful on the new change.
