
Three hundred beneficiaries of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Technical Skills Programme have concluded their training.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Port Harcourt Rivers State, Managing Director NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku said the commission was determined to build the capacity of people of Niger Delta Region through skill acquisition.
The MD revealed that the training would be followed up with certification of the the Beneficiaries to grow and become experts in their various areas.

Represented by Executive Director Projects, Dr. Victor Antai, the MD expressed optimism that the training would create employment opportunities in the region.
“This training which was designed to build capacity for three hundred participants across the region is now concluded. There shall be follow up mentorship, monitoring and evaluation and further opportunities would be opened for the graduates to explore further certification to grow themselves as experts in their respective skills.”
Similarly, Executive Director Corporate Services, Otumba Ifedayo Abegunde encouraged the Beneficiaries to make use of the knowledge they gained to become self employed.

In the same vein, Director Commercial and Industrial Directorate, Lyna Okara was emphatic about the opportunities the technical training would present to participants.
A staff of Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Timothy Iyanagbe charged the Beneficiaries to give back to the society, saying it was necessary to upscale and reskill in the industry.
Dr. Iyanagbe insisted on the need to become qualified and certified as a master trainer.
He told them that the Federal Government has various skills acquisition programmes for the people.
In an address, the consultant, Blessing Olodiama, insisted that the participants have been equipped with skills that would make them succeed in oil and gas as well as engineering sectors.

Two of the Beneficiaries Aso Kenneth and Friday Johnson while appreciating NDDC, acknowledged that the training was impactful.
They promised to apply the knowledge and contribute to economic growth of the region.
The training focused on Pipe fitting, scaffolding, sandblasting, forklift operations.

High point of the event was presentation of certificates to the participants.
