NDDC COMMENCES DISTRIBUTION OF FORTY FIVE THOUSAND U-LESSON EDUCATIONAL TABLETS ACROSS NIGER DELTA REGION

Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, has commenced distribution of U-lesson Educational tablet initiative for primary and secondary schools in Niger Delta region. 

Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who flagged off the programme in Yenagoa Bayelsa State, described the move as a pointer to the commitment of the commission towards holistic development of the region in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

In a world that is being ruled by technology, the distribution of the educational tablets by Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to Primarily and secondary schools in Niger Delta region would go a long way to prepare the students and expose them to the use of softwares early, bearing in mind that some exams such as Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB is now computer based. 

Performing the flag-off ceremony, Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku identified the need to ensure a holistic development of the region as the brain behind the initiative. 

Represented by the Director Education Health and Social Services, EHSS, Dr. George Uzonwanne, Dr.Ogbuku reiterated the determination of NDDC to assist youths of Niger Delta region gain quality education that would unlock their minds and  enable them compete with their peers world over. 

He told the students that the educational tablets were prepared according to Nigerian education curriculum and functions offline.

According to him, everyone of the tablets would be monitored from source  to ensure that it would not be abused. 

While asking teachers to ensure even distribution, the MD said that the teachers would be trained on usage while the tablets would be individualized making it impossible to be used by unauthorized persons. 

The MD who explained that the Tablets were specifically prepared for primary, junior and senior secondary schools separately, promised that the tablet distribution would be followed by text book distribution also to students. 

Giving details about the content, The consultant, Mr. Sim Shagaya who described ulesson Initiative as the largest technological investment in education  by any Government agency  in sub-Saharan Africa, insisted that the tablets were  equipped with applications that would help students learn different subjects by themselves with excellent results. 

Mr.  Shagaya Who was appreciative of the investment of NDDC in the software, gave assurance that it would transform the beneficiaries and make them excel in their academic journey. 

Two of the beneficiaries, Dusimi Johnbull and Elizabeth Stanley said they were excited about the opportunity, promising to make good use of the educational aid. 

While appreciating NDDC for the gesture, President of all Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS Mr. Court Ogboseri expressed optimism that the availability of the tablets would improve the quality of education in Bayelsa State and  Niger Delta Region as a whole. 

About Forty five thousand of the tablets would be distributed across NDDC states.
