Two hundred and seventy persons with disabilities have benefited from Supportive Aid Distribution by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in Bayelsa State.

Speaking at the event in Yenagoa Bayelsa State, the Director, NDDC Bayelsa State Office, Mr. Godknows Alamieyeseigha told the beneficiaries that the commission has good plans for people with disabilities.

Mr. Alamieyeseigha who explained that the aids were to assist them overcome their challenges, insisted that NDDC believes in human capacity development in addition to project delivery.

According to him, “We just want to appreciate you people, you people are dear to us, you are not forgotten.We just want to appeal to you people to be law abiding. Whatever you people need please, follow the right channel.

Come to us, lay your complaints, any way we can help you people because you are part of us.
So, we will always assist you people.
The office is always open to hear your complaints and we will take it to the appropriate quarters.”

The consultant, Dr. Smile George
who spoke on leadership, emphasized integrity and transparency in leadership.
Dr. George asked them to open their minds for change and acquire new ideas.

He challenged the Beneficiaries to keep learning to prevent being left behind.

Giving a talk on mental health, Chairman, National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners Bayelsa State Branch, Dr. Sapere-Obi Wariebi encouraged them to reject negative thoughts that may go through their minds because of their conditions.

Dr. Wariebi admonished persons with disabilities to take care of their mental health and resist depression, anxiety as well as suicidal ideas.

He asked them to avoid negative thoughts but stay motivated to achieve greater heights.

Some of the Beneficiaries appreciated NDDC for the gesture , saying it would be of great relief and help to them.

The Beneficiaries pleaded that employment opportunities be made available for them.

Items distributed were crutches, magnifying glasses, Brail, hearing aids, walking frames, among others.
