About 50 Corps members of the 2024 batch B stream 2 National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Scheme deployed to Akwa Ibom state will repeat the service year.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Sam Pepple, speaking during the passing out of the 2024 batch B stream 2 Corps members in Uyo, explained that this was as a result of various infractions including evasion, absenteesm and others.
Mr Pepple decried the level of evasion of service by Corps members aided by the non challant attitude of Corps employers towards monitoring and effective supervision of those posted to their organisation.
He noted that most Corps members no longer show commitment and patriotism to serve their fatherland, rather, they expect to be paid for services not rendered.
The State Coordinator promised that, all erring Corps members will be made to face the full weight of the law no matter the tactics they employ.
Mr Pepple urged those who performed meritoriously not to rest on their oars but work hard to achieve their set out goals in life.
He encouraged them to leverage on what they learnt during the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, training to better their lot while expecting white collar jobs of their dreams.
