
The need for Urhobo Renaissance Society, URS, to partner Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, and the state government to attract more investments to Urhobo nation and the state has been stressed.
Dr Fred Latimor Oghenesivbe, the Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, stated this in a congratulatory message to the newly inaugurated President of Urhobo Renaissance Society, Professor Joseph Abugu, and his executive members.
He emphasized the need for Urhobo Renaissance Society executives to join hands with the governor who is also an illustrious son of Urhobo nation to advance Delta beyond 2027, saying that Urhobo nation of Delta Central Senatorial district, and the other two Senatorial districts had witnessed tremendous infrastructure development in the past two years, and counting.
He said Urhobo ethnic nationality must of a necessity harness the human capital, vast business connections and economic potentials of her sons and daughters across board to bring about economic transformation and infrastructure development, noting that the high calibre of personalities in URS have the capacity to deliver.
The Bureau Chief further stated that the urgent need for Urhobo unity, progress and economic transformation cannot be overemphasized, while urging URS to partner Delta State Governor to drive progress, attract investments, sustain unity and peaceful coexistence in the state.
Dr Oghenesivbe said Governor Oborevwori had made Urhobos and Deltans proud as a result of his landmark achievements in mega infrastructure development of the state, assuring that the governor would continue to be fair and just in all his actions and inactions for the benefit of all Deltans.
He urged the new President of the Urhobo Renaissance Society, Professor Joseph Abugu, to activate his national and international connections in the legal and corporate world to attract meaningful investments to Urhobo nation, and by extension Delta State.
“I congratulate my former commercial and industrial law teacher, Professor Joseph Abugu and the newly inaugurated executive members of Urhobo Renaissance Society, URS.
“The urgent need for Urhobo unity, progress and economic transformation cannot be overwhelmed, which is why URS must partner with the governor of Delta State to drive progress, sustain unity and peaceful coexistence in the state.
“Professor Abugu is a renowned Professor of Commercial and and Industrial Law with vast knowledge in local and global investments. I respectfully urge him and his team to activate their wealth of experience and global connections to attract investments and development to Urhobo nation and Delta State.
“I must also commend the founding President of URS, Prof Hope Eghagha, for his unwavering commitment to the unity and development of Urhobo Nation.
“I respectfully appeal to URS to partner with the governor of Delta State, and an illustrious son of Urhobo Nation, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to advance Delta beyond 2027,” Oghenesivbe added.
