A corps member serving in Bayelsa State, Mr. Brown-Ofoeme Ebubechukwu, has successfully renovated four dilapidated classroom blocks and the headteacher’s office at Community Primary School, Swali, in Yenagoa Local Government Area.

The project, executed under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Community Development Service (CDS), included re-roofing, installation of PVC ceilings, fixing of new doors and windows, and complete repainting of the buildings.

Brown, who hails from Nnewi in Anambra State, said the initiative initially started as a campaign against cultism in selected primary and secondary schools.

However, after witnessing the poor learning environment at the school, he was moved to embark on a more impactful intervention.

“Upon encountering the poor state of learning environments, I was inspired to take on a more tangible intervention, renovating the classroom block of the school”, he said.

He also organized medical outreach for NYSC officials, distributed exercise books to 200 pupils, and empowered local women through vocational trainings.
