The Federal Government has reiterated it’s commitment to work with states to bring reforms that will checkmate money looting in cooperative societies in the country.

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullah stated this in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital at the 2025 international day of Cooperative celebration .

Senator Abdullah noted that the ministry is working closely with stakeholders across the state, federal and local level to rebuild, harmonise and modernise cooperative legal framework that will ensure rules and regulations that will govern cooperative movement.

While commended the Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno for uplifting the cooperative movement in the state, the minister called on all stakeholders to join hands with with government to improve the cooperative sector.

The Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno in a speech read by his special adviser on Bureau of cooperative and rural development, Mrs Alice Ekpenyong reaffirms dedication in creating enabling environment were cooperative can thrive.

The event which has as it’s theme ” Driving inclusive and sustainable solutions for a better world” brought together cooperative societies from the 31 local government areas of the state as well as cooperatives in the Bureau amongst which is the Women Journalists,Uyo, Multipurpose Cooperative society.
