Prominent Port Harcourt socialite Ikechi Maduba, popularly known as Seemore, has settled out of court with the five women who accused him of assault at a nightclub in the city.
The complainants—Innocent Stellaman, Juliet Obasi, Jennifer Chidiebere, Anthonia Okoye, and Onuoha Oluomachi—had filed a police report after a viral video showed them allegedly being attacked at the “Black Box” nightclub during a birthday celebration. The footage sparked outrage on social media, leading to Seemore’s arrest and questioning by the police.
However, when the case was called before Magistrate Buzuge Kobani, the women’s lawyer, Cyrus Onu, informed the court that his clients had accepted Seemore’s apology and a financial settlement. Following the agreement, the plaintiffs filed an affidavit of withdrawal, prompting the court to strike out the case.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that Seemore had been detained for questioning after the incident. She stated that the Commissioner of Police had ordered an investigation following the circulation of the video.
While the legal case has been resolved, the incident continues to stir discussions on social media about accountability and justice in cases involving public figures.
