The Bayelsa State Government has taken over the medical treatment of victims of the accident that happened around Toru-Orua community, along the Sagbama-Ekeremor road.

The accident involved a collision between an 18-Seater Toyota Hiace Bus and a Cooling Van.

The occupants of the bus were heading to neighbouring Ofoni Community for the funeral of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

According to the Commissioner for Health, Professor Seiyefa Brisibe, the Governor, Senator Douye Diri, had directed him and the medical team to ensure adequate care for the victims.

On the false online narrative that ten persons lost their lives in the accident involving the 18-seater bus, Professor Brisibe, said two deaths were recorded in the accident while ten others survived but sustained varying degrees of injuries.

He said the rescued victims have remained stable after they received emergency medical responses from the government medical ambulance teams deployed along the Sagbama-Ekeremor road for the burial of late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo in Ofoni.

The Health Commissioner said the victims who had been moved to both Sagbama General hospital and Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri were responding to treatment.
