NDDC FLAGS OF MODEL HOSTEL IN NIGER DELTA UNIVERSITY, DONATES TRUCKS TO BAYELSA STATE

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri has called for inauguration of a substantive board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC to enable Governors of the region perform their roles as contained in NDDC ACT.
Governor Douye Diri who made the call in Government House Yenegoa while receiving One thousand KVA Generator, four waste disposal trucks, a coaster bus among others, donated to the State and Niger Delta University by Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, appreciated the commission for the gesture.
The donations by Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, was made during a working visit to Bayelsa State by the Interim Administrator, Dr. Efiong Akwa and other Directors of the Commission in continuation of the efforts to strengthen the synergy between NDDC and governors of Niger Delta region.
Speaking in Bayelsa State Government House while playing host to NDDC delegation, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Duoye Diri emphasized the need to have a substantive board of the commission inaugurated to create room for more elaborate contribution of the governors of the region.
Governor Diri who was appreciative of the donations from NDDC, noted that the interventionist agency was created to midwife the overall development of the oil rich region.
The Governor solicited for more project execution by the commission in in Bayelsa State.
Earlier in his presentation, the Interim Administrator NDDC, Dr. Efiong Akwa, told the governor that the move by the present administration of NDDC to work closer with the governors of the region was to avoid duplication of projects.
Dr Akwa who restated the determination of the commission to the development of the region, donated four waste disposal trucks to the state government and promised to collaborate with the government in the construction of major roads in the state.
“Permit me to also inform Your Excellency that on this August visit, we have come with initiatives which we believe will complement your efforts at developing Bayelsa State, the glory of all lands.”
“We have brought with us waste disposal trucks and receptors to help make Bayelsa cleaner.”
“ Besides all the projects ongoing in different communities of Bayelsa, including the Impressive Oghia-Nembe road with its spurs, we are undertaking several projects at the Niger Delta University.”
On the intervention in Niger Delta University Amassoma, Bayelsa State, the Chief Executive Officer of NDDC who performed a ground breaking ceremony of the construction of a model Hostel in the University in conjunction with the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo,donated one thousand KVA generator and a coaster bus to the University.
He also promised to construct internal roads within the campus.
