NDDC CHAIRMAN COMMITS TO EMPOWERMENT OF NIGER DELTA WOMEN

NDDC BOARD CHAIRMAN, MRS. LAURETTA ONOCHIE AND OTHER BOARD MEMBERS AND DIRECTORS ON HER RIGHT

Chairman Board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Mrs. Lauretta Onochie says the Commission is ready to empower women of Niger Delta Region to make them self-reliant. 

Mrs. Onochie who stated this while receiving Ijaw Community in Abuja and parts of the North in her office at NDDC headquarters Port Harcourt, maintained that the empowerment the agency will embark upon, would be sustainable to make sure that it would yield fruits. 

While giving assurance that the act of the NDDC would be followed religiously, the Chairman revealed that the youths will equally be trained to be self-employed. 

While stating their mission, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Alagba  Ebitemowei  said they have been making efforts to expand the Ijaw community in Abuja and parts of the North. 

Mr. Ebitemowei who stated that their aim is to foster peace and unity among Nigerians despite their ethnic backgrounds, maintained that the group campaigned and mounted pressure on the Federal Government to ensure inauguration of the board. 

According to him, they are ready to contribute their quota in making sure that the region is developed.

The group called for empowerment for women of Niger Delta region, such as farmers to enable them take care of their families as an antidote to youth restiveness. 

The leader of the delegation asked that the present administration be transparent in running the affairs of NDDC. 

High point of the event was presentation of a programme template which they believe would enhance women empowerment and development of the region.
