NDDC MD ENJOINS UNIVERSITIES IN NIGER DELTA REGION TO VENTURE INTO SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC DR. Samuel Ogbuku says NDDC is willing to partner institutions in the Niger Delta Region to venture into specialized research to proffer solutions to challenges in the country. 

Dr. Ogbuku  who made this known while receiving a delegation from Rivers State University, challenged the institution to delve into scientific research and come up with vaccines to cure some prevalent ailments. 

The Managing Director pledged to look into the request presented by the team and capture some of them in the budget of the commission. 

According to him, NDDC places premium on the overall development of youths of Niger Delta extraction hence the need to build capacity in the tertiary education. 

Earlier in his presentation, the Vice Chancellor Rivers State University, Professor  Nlerum Okogbule who revealed that the school was established in 1980, requested that NDDC construct a male hostel in the institution.

 Professor Okogbule  also requested that NDDC assist to construct “Center for advanced law research”, insisting that the University has enough intellectual capacity to manage the center. 

The Rivers State University VC acknowledged that NDDC has executed some projects in the school and appreciated the commission for the gesture. 

On his part, the executive Director, Finance and Administration, retired major General Charles Airhiavbere  told the delegation that NDDC engineering and audit teams will have closer interphase with the University to fashion out ways of bringing the projects to fruition. 

Apart from the executive director’s other management staff of NDDC were present during the courtesy visit.
