DR OGBUKU IDENTIFIES INVESTMENT AS KEY TO SECURING THE FUTURE OF NIGER DELTA REGION

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, DR. Samuel Ogbuku says NDDC is delving into investment opportunities that would sustain the commission in the future beyond statutory contributions from International Oil Companies. 

Dr. Ogbuku who made this known while speaking during Ondo Investment Summit in Akure the State capital, maintained that the commission is building a regional integration project across Niger Delta region. 

The Investment Summit was put together by Ondo State government to showcase investment opportunities to potential partners. 

While delivering a speech, the Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku described investment as key to securing the future and prosperity of the people. 

According to Dr. Ogbuku, Niger Delta region was endowed with natural resources and investment opportunities as such, the commission would explore the Blueship economy available in the region especially in agriculture and fisheries. 

The Chief Executive Officer, who noted that Ondo state has a lot of mineral resources that can be exploited to drive development, maintained that the interventionist agency would embark on projects that would be completed within a given period across the region.  

Explaining the motive behind the summit, Acting Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedetiwa Said it was put up to expose investment opportunities that abound in the state, such as, solid minerals, Agriculture, wild life and  cultural heritage.

 The acting  governor expressed optimism that the summit would attract two billion dollars investment and create seventy thousand Jobs. 

Similarly, Deputy President Representative Operations, United Nations Development programme UNDP, Mrs. Fati Attahiru who pledged the support of the body  stressed the importance  of private sector in the the development of countries to achieve 2030 development goals. 

In a virtual presentation, Acting Head European Representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Ruben Aguilera  said the organization was willing  to partner public and private institutions in Nigeria to create jobs.

Parts of the entourage of the managing Director were the executive directors and other management staff.
