DR. OGBUKU SAYS NDDC PLANS TO MAKE NIGER DELTA REGION A TECH HUB

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says management is determined to Make Niger Delta Region a Tech Hub through its youth initiative, Holistic Opportunity Project and Programmes for Engagement, christened Project HOPE. 

Dr. Ogbuku who made this known during facility tour of Rivers State ICT CENTER for NDDC project Hope Initiative, expressed optimism that the programme would make the beneficiaries self-reliant. 

While emphasizing the need for sustainability, the Managing Director stated that the information and communication technology, ICT, aspect of project HOPE would be replicated in other nine states of NDDC. 

The Chief Executive Officer who appreciated Rivers State government for the partnership, noted that there would be a face lift at the center. 

Similarly, Commissioner for Youths Development Rivers State, Dr. Chisom Gbali applauded NDDC Managing Director for the initiative and assured him of the willingness of Rivers Youths to leverage on the opportunity. 

On his part, the facilitator of Project Hope, Ambassador Blessing Fubara explained that first phase of the project was data assessment, where over fifty-seven thousand responses were recorded within one month of kick off. 

Ambassador Fubara who said that one hundred and eighty-five supervisors have already been engaged from all the local government areas across the region, added that the focus was on Community Industrial Development. 

Ambassador Fubara expressed confidence that the content of the training would make participants employers of labour. 

Hope Initiative was part of the fall out of Managing Director’s Youth Interactive Forum.
