STAKEHOLDERS IN OIL AND GAS DIVISION MEET ON WAYS OF IMPROVING THE SECTOR

A Stakeholder in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Babajide Soyode, has called for a strict measure to tackle the decay in the sector.

Mr.  Soyode who made the call at the 6th International Mid and Downstream oil and gas workshop held in Port Harcourt, urged relevant authority to fight what he described as organized corruption bedeviling the nation’s oil and gas industry.

Speaking on the theme of the event, ‘Innovations for Sustainable Optimal Operations of Existing Oil and Gas Assets in Nigeria’ the chairman of the conference, who is also the President, Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers, Mr. Tony Ogbuigwe, urged the stakeholders to think outside the box to come-up with innovations to develop the sub-sector of the economy.

On his part the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indorama, Mr. Manish Mundra, represented by Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, said Indorama is on the move to expand its capacity to create job opportunities and empower youths in its efforts to develop the industry and other sectors of the economy.

Citing several factors bedeviling the oil and gas industry, the Managing Director of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, Dr. Philip Mshelbila represented by Mr. Ikenna Ikonta, identified Covid-19, vandalism and foreign exchange instability, as factors hindering the growth of the oil and gas industry.

Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of awards to distinguished members of the industry.
