NAOWA PRESIDENT LAYS FOUNDATION FOR NAOWA SECONDARY SCHOOL, DISTRIBUTES PALLIATIVES IN PORT HARCOURT BARRACKS

NAOWA PRESIDENT, MRS. MARIYA LAGBAJA ATTENDING TO WOMEN

President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja says   education is indispensable in shaping pupils and preparing them for brighter future. 

Mrs. Lagbaja who made the assertion at 6 Division Nigerian Army Barracks Port Harcourt Rivers State while performing groundbreaking ceremony for junior Secondary school and inauguration of remodeled NAOWA nursery and Primary school, maintained that the projects were in consonance with her vision of promoting peace as well as betterment of humanity. 

The NAOWA President who was joyful over the project by Chairperson Six Division chapter called on the school authority to maintain the facility for the benefit of humanity and the barracks community. 

While appreciating the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam for supporting the group, she advised the wives of the officers and men to always pray for their husbands as they strive to ensure security of lives and property across the nation.

Earlier in an address, Chairperson NAOWA 6 Division Chapter, Mrs. Maryam ABDUSSALAM said that the idea of a secondary school was conceived to provide alternative to residents in the barracks and aid education. 

Mrs. Abdussalam who noted that the school was in a deplorable state, emphasized the need to provide a conducive learning environment for the children. 

The 6 Division chairperson, who acknowledged the support of both the GOC 6 Division and National President, said that facilities in the school were also upgraded. 

NAOWA president also engaged in tree planting alongside GOC and others, inspected NAOWA complex in the barracks and unveiled a park.

Highlight of the event was distribution of school bags to pupils, palliative package to teachers and widows, containing bags of rice, noodles as well as cash.
