WIFE OF CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF DISTRIBUTES PALLIATIVES TO WIDOWS OF FALLEN HEROES IN PORT HARCOURT

Wife of Chief of Defence Staff and President, Defence and Police Officers Wives’ Association, DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Musa has assured widows of fallen heroes of their welfare.
Mrs. Musa who gave the assurance at Six Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt during the kickoff of distribution of palliatives to the widows of fallen heroes of Army, Navy and Air Force in South-South, described the exercise as part of Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration activities to honour the officers who paid the Supreme prize while serving the nation.
She insisted that DEPOWA identifies with the families of the men that sacrificed for the unity and progress of the nation.
The DEPOWA President who said that the group embarks on skill acquisition programme for the women also paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding Six Division Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam .
Similarly, Chief of Defense Civil Military Relations, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu told the women that the Armed Forces cannot abandon the families left behind by departed military officers.
Rear Admiral Dewu said the palliative distribution by defence headquarters was an indication of the determination of the Military to support the families in challenging times.
Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mrs. Folake Lasisi said they were happy for the largesse but called for closer interaction with the families.
Items distributed include, Rice, noodles, yam as well as cash.
