NDDC MD CHALLENGES UNIVERSITIES TO FIND RESEARCH BASED SOLUTION TO NIGER DELTA ECOLOGICAL CHALLENGES

Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has challenged Universities in Niger Delta region to proffer solutions to erosion and other ecological challenges facing the region.
Dr. Ogbuku who gave the Challenge during a courtesy visit by management of Niger Delta University, at NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt Rivers State, emphasized the importance of research based solutions to common issues bedevilling the region.
According to the managing Director, some projects failed in certain areas and right solutions to the cause of the failure have not been found.
The NDDC boss who noted that the University would benefit from Solar light Project of the commission gave assurance that a delegation would be visiting the University to look into the requests from the school.
Dr. Ogbuku commended the proposal by the University to establish a herbal medicine research unit, describing it as a step in the right direction.
He acknowledged the progress made by the University and the quality of graduates churned out from the Institution.
Earlier on, Vice Chancellor, Niger Delta University, Amasoma, Proffesor Allen Agih told the managing Director that the institution seek collaboration with NDDC in ICT, agriculture, research and infrastructural amenities within the school.
Professor Agih who said that establishment of herbal health center in the University would create job opportunities, good health and skill acquisition, appreciated the interventionist agency for citing projects in the school.
