GOVERNOR FUBARA ENJOINS PERSONNEL TO BE DILIGENT AND LOYAL AT CIVIL DEFENCE DAY 2024

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has charged the officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers State Command to remain Diligent, Resilient and loyal to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Governor Fubara who gave the charge at the Command Headquarters of NSCDC in Port Harcourt during World Civil Defence Day 2024 and Passing out Parade of 2022 regular intakes, expressed happiness over the successes the Corp has achieved in crime Fighting across the country.
The Governor who was represented by Secretary to Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo commended Rivers State Command for effective collaborations with other sisters security agencies in fighting the menace of Oil theft, cultism and other sundry crimes ravaging the State.
Governor Fubara who was the Special Guest of Honour as contained in a statement from the Public Relations Officer, SC Olufemi Ayodele, urged the Regular Intake, officers and men on parade: “Your present state is not a determinant of where you ought to be; but with diligence and loyalty to your nation without loosing focus you can be where God has destined you to be”.
Rivers State Governor felicitated with the State Commandant Basil Igwebueze, the Senior management officers and other personnel on the occasion of 2024 World Civil Defence Day, being celebrated annually by countries who are members of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO).
Similarly, the Acting Zonal Commander (Zone L); Commandant Aniekan Udoeyop who went down Memory lane, traced the history of NSCDC back to its formation during the Civil War era in 1967, known as the Lagos Civil Defence Committee, till her establishment as full fleshed Federal Government Paramilitary Agency with the enabling Act, 2003 as amended in 2007.
According to the statement, Udoeyop extolled the Administration of the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi for effective and result oriented leadership qualities, training and retraining of officers and men, as well as all inclusive personnel welfare package.
He noted that the Commandant General repositioned the Corps to a world class elite organization, poised to Safeguard all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of the nation in addition to protection of life and property of citizens.
On his part, Rivers State Commandant, Basil Igwebueze said having gone through such a rigorous training, the newly recruited officers and men must be ready to abide by NSCDC Code of Conduct and Standard Operating Procedures, noting that the nation was in need of gallant, dedicated and loyal officers, who would represent the NSCDC and combat criminalities without compromising the ethical standard of the Corps.
Commandant Igwebueze hinted that the personnel would be acquainted with daily activities of the command by deploying them to various Departments and Units for intanship training, the statement said.
The occasion was witnessed by lots of dignitaries such as: the Rivers Command Commissioner of Police; CP Olatunji Disu, Service Commanders from the Nigerian Airforce, Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service, Immigration Service, Director of DSS, ICPC, NEMA, the Chairman of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Rivers Chapter, His Royal Majesty Eze Barr. Onyekachi Amaonwu DSSRS. King of Omuma Kingdom, Captains of Industries, Invited Schools amongst others.
