NDDC, NIGERIAN NAVY PALLY TO IMPROVE MARITIME SECURITY

Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Saheed Akiwande has assured that the maritime environment would be adequately secured for businesses to thrive in Niger Delta region.
Rear Admiral Akiwande who gave the assurance during a courtesy call on the Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, explained that adequate policing of the maritime domain would boost oil production.
The Rear Admiral while stating that the visit was to strengthen the collaboration with NDDC, appreciated the commission for supporting naval outfits within Eastern Naval Command Area of Responsibility.
Responding, the Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku said that the killing of soldiers in Delta State was handiwork of miscreants.
While emphasizing on the importance of peace to enhance development in the region,
Dr. Ogbuku pleaded with the military to be professional in handling the situation in Delta, especially as it concerns women and children.
He reiterated commitment to completing projects in Naval bases within Eastern Naval Command
The MD Observed that criminals were devising news methods which demand new strategies and intelligence to handle.
Naval formations in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Abia are within the Area of Responsibility of Eastern Naval Command.
