CRISIS HIT RESIDENTS OF OKEY WALI ESTATE, RUMUALOGU

Crisis brewed at Okey Wali Estate in Rumualogu community, Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State following a misunderstanding among members of the estate over the usage of a road in the estate.

While some residents of the Estate, claimed that they were unduly treated by the Chairman of the Estate, the Chairman insisted that those locked out were not committed to the security and maintenance of the road.

Our Correspondent who visited the Estate to ascertain the cause of the misunderstanding, reported that some of the residents, including Apostle Anthony Abraham and Pastors Evans Chuks lamented the depravation they suffered when the gate which leads to the major road the Estate was locked by the Estate officials.

The explained that in a bid to resolve the matter, they reported to Obio Akpor Local Government Council, but expressed displeasure that the Estate Officials were not following the advise from the Council.

Conducting Radio Nigeria through another road which they said is the main road for those living on the opposite part of the Estate, Chairman of Okey Wali Estate, Mr. Austin Omoko and the Sanitation Head in the Estate, Mr. Achinike Raphael said they did their best to accommodate the former party which they said lived on the opposite side of the Estate, but stressed that the road in question is usable and secured, because of the Financial commitment of some members of the Estate, alleging that the complainants did not show willingness to comply.

Both parties however agreed to abide by the advice from the Local Government Council on the matter.
