The Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says peace is a platform that births development.
Dr. Ogbuku who made this known while speaking to youths during Executive Management Round-table Conference with selected Niger Delta Opinion Leaders and Youth Groups in Port Harcourt Rivers State, encouraged the youths to maintain peace in their localities to provide enabling environment for rural development.
The Managing who appreciated President Tinubu for identifying with the region and appointment of people of the region into key positions in his administration, emphasized on NDDC new initiative called “Triple T”, meaning, Transiting from Transactions to Transformation in sustainable development programmes.
The Managing Director who insisted that NDDC has executed projects in many communities noted that the youths would be engaged to Cary out repair works on some of the projects that were beginning to lose value or abandoned halfway.
On project HOPE initiative, the Chief Executive Officer of NDDC asked Executive Director Projects, Sir Victor Antai to see partnership between the facilitator and leadership of different youth groups so as to expand the database.
In the same vein, Facilitator of Project Hope initiative, Blessing Fubara who noted that the programme was an offshoot of youth engagement, stated farmlands have been secured in many states to serve as training grounds for youths.
According to Mr. Fubara, the project has taken off in ernest with different programmes and results.
He stated that music and Arts arm of Project HOPE would be launched soon.
On his part, the President of Movement for the Survival of Ijaw Ethnic Nationalities in the Niger Delta, MOSIEND, comrade Kenedy West who expressed displeasure that NDDC programmes have been politicized in the past, pledged their support to the present administration.
Similarly, another youth leader, Comrade Nature Dumale commended NDDC for the light up Niger Delta programme which has led to the installation of Solar powered street light in many communities in the region.
The Theme of the conference was Rebuilding towards self-sufficiency.
