NIGER DELTA ELDERS EXPRESS SATISFACTION WITH NDDC’s MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE

Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says the present Management of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, believes in transparency and accountability. 

Dr. Ogbuku who made the assertion while playing host to Major Stakeholders and Leaders of Ethnic Nationalities of Niger Delta Region told the leaders that the commission has executed projects in several communities in the  region.

The Managing Director who  informed the stakeholders that a good number of youths of the region have registered in Project HOPE  empowerment initiative, asked them to encourage their youths to register on the scheme  as well as in Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce. 

He maintained that the aim was to train youths and make them self reliant. 

 The MD who revealed that the commission was embarking on Health insurance scheme that would make healthcare available to the vulnerable and rural dwellers told the delegation that NDDC was going into partnership with World Health Organization saying that NDDC free medical outreach next year would be in collaboration with the world body. 

While soliciting for support from the stakeholders to bring to bear the vision of the management, Dr. Ogbuku advised the stakeholders to ensure Peace in their communities to attract more projects. 

The Chief Executive officer of the Interventionist Agency stated that the commission would be inaugurating projects in different parts of the region adding that the light up Niger Delta project was aimed at ensuring security in the rural areas. 

Other Executive Directors also spoke to the delegation, assuring them of the determination of the board to fast track development of the region.

Addressing the gathering earlier on, the  National Chairman, Pan Niger Delta Forum PANDEF, Senator Emmanuel Essien expressed happiness over the progress made by Management of Niger Delta Development Commission precisely on the light up Niger Delta  programme of NDDC. 

Senator Essien noted that the commission has made significant progress in project execution and education based programmes. 

Senator Essien called on the president to ensure release of all outstanding funds accruing the commission to enable it carry out its’ projects 


On his part, a Niger Delta Activist, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe called for special attention to be given to oil bearing communities to guarantee peace and tranquility in the communities. 

The delegation promised to support the management in their programmes.
