NDDC TO SUPPORT NIGERIA POLICE BAYELSA STATE COMMAND TO FIGHT CRIMES IN THE STATE

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has expressed readiness of the commission to support Nigerian Police Bayelsa State Command in crime fighting.
Dr. Ogbuku who made the commitment during a courtesy call by Nigerian Police, Bayelsa State Command, emphasized the importance of technology in the bid to curtail criminality in Niger Delta Region.
According to the Managing Director, security agencies need to do more to protect assets and infrastructure in the communities.
He regretted that some solar streetlights installation done by the commission has been vandalized in some communities.
The Chief Executive Officer of NDDC however acknowledged reduction in crime rate in Bayelsa State.
Earlier in his presentation, Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State, Alonyenu Idu who stated that security issues in Bayelsa needs critical strategy due to the terain, explained that he has done crime marking to curtail it.
According to Mr. Idu, he resorted to the use of drones to have on the spot assessment of activities in different parts of the state, including criminal hideouts.
The CP who also requested for the renovation of officers’ Mess, insisted that technology was the way out in crime challenges in Bayelsa State.
