Members of the public have been urged to be thankful and grateful to God at all times.
The charge was given by Pastor Frank Bricks of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Royal Palace, Port Harcourt, in a sermon titled, Count your blessings, with a bible text from Psalms chapter103 verse 1 to 5.
Pastor Bricks said thanksgiving can be for the past, present or future urging people to always share their testimonies to encourage others; making a reference to Professor of Social Works, professor Daniel Uranta who was in the church to thank God for professorial elevation.
“We need to give the gratitude to God for the gift of life, for His goodness and His mercy on our lives, for the miracle of sleeping and breathing. Sometimes we just take it for granted, we sleep, and we wake up, and we laugh at ourselves and see it as if we are the ones that made it possible. So there are many things we need you need to thank God for, even when the things are not the way we are expecting, we should still thank God” Pastor Bricks said.
Professor Uranta who is the Head of Social Works Department of the University of PortHarcourt expressed gratitude to God for the elevation and his birthday which coincided with the celebration. The Academic used the occasion to call on governments to invest in social works and employ professionals to manage the sector.
He said, “What we are passing through is more of an advocacy, teaching counseling, people who have one problem or the other. All those people who also don’t have a home, who are victims of community clashes, violence, kidnapping, we get them engaged in counseling, so they can have a rethink of their life and look for another way to survive.”
