Corps employers have been urged to enhance effective work condition for Corps Members serving in their organisations.


The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu who stated this at the Corps employers workshop held in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital cautioned employers against aiding the evading of service by corps members.


Correspondent Blessing Ituma completes the reports that the workshop was held simultaneously across states of the federation and the federal capital territory with the theme, Fine tuning stakeholders collaboration to enhance Corps Members’ welfare and workplace experience.


The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu represented by Deputy Director Certification & Mobilization NYSC South South Area Office 2 Port Harcourt, Mrs Faustina Ilora, emphasised the need for a conducive environment for Corps Members to be able to offer their best.

The state Cordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe while explaining the theme of Fine tuning stakeholders collaboration, said the scheme under the present leadership has shown enormous commitment to reposition the scheme towards greater efficiency and productivity, urging employers to avoid such negotiations with corps members that can put them in harms way.


Some of the Corps employers mentioned challenges with Corps members to include the demand for rejection, leave days and the evading of service.

Reviewing the 2025 NYSC Corps employers workshop, Assistant Director, Deployment and Relocation branch, NYSC Rivers State, Mrs. Helen Ben-ogbeche gave the resolutions to include better accomodation, proper motivation and enhanced cordial relationship with Corps employers while the NYSC should post corps members to areas of specialisation and provide online platform for employers to access information about the number of Corps Members posted to them.


In a lecture, political scientist, Dr Sabastine Nwankwo, restated the need for promotion of employees engagement in service by employers, institutionalization of mentorship and the supervision of corps members by both the employers and NYSC while the second speaker, Mr. Andrew Ajayi, reminded employers that they are strategic partners in shaping the country’s future workforce.


The workshop was attended by NYSCs key stakeholders, Employers and Corp members.
