Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has announced a scholarship package worth more than N42 million for 212 students from Ika North-East and Ika South Federal Constituencies who passed the 2026 aptitude test organised by the Monday Onyeme Foundation (MOF).

The aptitude test, held at the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, entered its second day on Sunday, with 478 out of 650 shortlisted candidates sitting for the examination.

Announcing the results amid applause from successful candidates, Onyeme said 108 students from Ika North-East and 104 from Ika South qualified for the scholarship.

Under the scheme, each successful candidate will receive N200,000, while the overall best three performers will receive additional prizes of N200,000, N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.

The Deputy Governor, who was received by the Vice-Chancellor of UNIDEL, Prof. Eric Eboh, said the improved turnout and performance reflected growing interest in the annual scholarship programme.

He congratulated the beneficiaries and urged those who could not make the list this year to continue preparing for future editions.

“Each of the successful candidates will get N200,000. Also, the student with the highest score will get an extra N200,000, the second position will get N150,000, while the third highest scorer will receive an extra N100,000,” Onyeme said.

He noted that the competitive nature of the scholarship had made it increasingly popular among students across the constituency.

Onyeme disclosed that the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency aptitude test was conducted the previous day, while the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency test would hold in Kwale the following Sunday.

He added that the foundation would announce a date for the presentation of cheques to the successful beneficiaries after the completion of the aptitude tests.

Miss Ojeme Goodness of Ika South emerged as the overall best candidate with 51 marks, followed by Idioma Peace, also of Ika South, with 50 marks. Akoreh Michael of Ika North-East came third with 47 marks.

The examination was administered by officials of the Delta State Ministry of Education, with UNIDEL Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Eboh, members of the university’s top management and Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Chris Osakwe, among other dignitaries, in attendance.
