Nigeria’s hospitality industry has received a major boost with the commissioning of Movela Hotels, a 73-room luxury facility expected to create jobs, stimulate economic activities and strengthen Delta State’s position as a preferred destination for business and tourism.
Located along Airport Road by Kosini Junction in Warri, the hotel was officially inaugurated by the member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, during a colourful ceremony attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, business executives, clergy and other dignitaries.
Commissioning the facility, Hon. Ereyitomi described the project as a strong vote of confidence in Warri’s economic potential and investment climate. He praised the promoters for making a significant contribution to the local economy and urged more investors to take advantage of the city’s growing business opportunities.
The federal lawmaker said investments of this nature not only improve hospitality infrastructure but also generate employment, support small businesses and expand the state’s economy.
“I am delighted to witness this project in Warri. It is another testament that Warri is a beautiful and safe place for investment. Investors should continue to come because Warri is secure and has a vibrant economy,” he said.
Beyond offering quality accommodation, the hotel is expected to boost transportation, food supply, security, event management, maintenance and other support services within the local economy.
Project officials disclosed that the facility has already created 84 direct jobs, with many more indirect employment opportunities expected as business activities around the hotel continue to grow.
Chief Executive Officer of Movela Hotels, Mona Uduaghan, said the vision behind the project was to build a world-class hospitality facility that combines international standards with a warm, welcoming atmosphere where guests feel completely at home.
According to her, the hotel is designed to offer comfort, safety, cleanliness, professionalism and exceptional customer service.
“Our goal is not extreme luxury but to provide an environment where every guest feels at home. We want visitors to leave with the conviction that they enjoyed excellent service in a safe and comfortable environment,” she stated.
Uduaghan expressed appreciation to contractors, consultants, partners and staff whose commitment made the project a reality. She noted that the hotel was built on a formerly waterlogged site, describing its transformation into a modern hospitality facility as a testament to resilience, careful planning and confidence in Warri’s future.
She added that continued investment in the hospitality sector remains vital to supporting business activities, tourism and the overall economic development of Delta State.
The commissioning ceremony featured prayers for the success of the hotel led by Rev. Mark Odia, the unveiling of the hotel’s signpost, goodwill messages from guests and a guided tour of the facility’s modern rooms and amenities designed to cater to business travellers, tourists and conference participants.
Guests at the event observed that investments such as Movela Hotels will further enhance Warri’s capacity to host conferences, corporate meetings, social events and tourists, while creating more employment opportunities and complementing government efforts to diversify the state’s economy.
