Environmental activists have called for immediate energy transition from oil and gas to clean energy in the Country.
Director of a Non-Governmental Organization health for mother earth foundation Dr. Nnimo Bassey stated this in Erema Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State during a visit to the Country home of renowned environmental agitator and activist Comrade Che Ibegwura.
While reacting to climate change Dr. Bassey frowned at the over-dependence of oil and gas flaring activities by oil companies.
Environmental activist who is also a militant labour leader Comrade Che Ibegwura said it is a joint responsibility to preserve the environment.
They advised persons involved in illegal oil bunkering activities to desist from such acts due to the adverse effects on the environment.
