AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR NDDC BOARD

The Chairman, Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie says the agency will serve the interest of the people of Niger Delta Region.
Mrs. Onochie who made the commitment during a courtesy visit to the governor of Akwa Ibom State insisted that the board will be apolitical in its activities.
While soliciting for support from the state government, Mrs. Onochie revealed that many programmes would be rolled out for the benefits of the youths.
She pleaded that the board be allowed a breathing space and not pressurised into unwholesome deals.
Responding, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, pledged to support the board to ensure that NDDC lives up-to expectations.
Governor Emmanuel who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo noted Akwa Ibom state and Niger Delta region in General lack the Presence of Federal Government considering its contributions to the economy.
The Governor told the members of the board to change the narrative in running the affairs of NDDC to fast track the development of Niger Delta Region.
Apart from the board members, Directors of NDDC as well as the Managing Director, Dr. Emmanuel Ogbuku were part of the visit.
