GOVERNOR WIKE COMMENDS ARMY ON FIGHT AGAINST OIL THEFT, SOLICITS SECURITY DURING 2023 ELECTIONS

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has commended Nigerian Army in their efforts in the fight against oil theft and insecurity in the State. 

Governor Wike who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Emeka Woke made the commendation as the Special Guest of Honour at Six Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt’s West Africa Social Activities, WASA.

The Governor called on the Army to ensure adequate security during the forthcoming general elections.

In his remarks, The General Officer Commanding, GOC, Six Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Major General Olufemi Oluyede who enjoined Members of the public to support Nigerian Army in their bid to protect the territorial integrity of the nation said West African Social Activities, WASA was to mark the end of military activities in the past year and usher in a new year.

Represented by the Commander Six Military Intelligence Brigade, Brigadier General Aliyu Idris, the GOC noted that West African Social activities was meant to take officers off their normal duties and reunite them with family and friends in a relaxed environment. 

According to him, other Brigades within Six Division’s Area of Responsibility in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Delta States have earlier marked WASA. 

Side attractions at the event included, cultural displays from different ethnic groups, Tug of war, bonfire and presentation of awards. 

Present at the event were heads of security Agencies in the state, senior military personnel, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
