RIVERS NSCDC COMMANDANT JOINS SERVICE COMMANDERS IN ELECTION MONITORING LAUDS SWIFT INTERVENTION AND PEACEFUL CONDUCT OF PERSONNEL

The Rivers State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Michael Besong Ogar has lauded the swift response of the Nigeria Police, NSCDC and other Sister Security Agencies in maintenance of Peace, Law and other during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Rivers State.

Ogar also reiterated on the need for adequate logistics provisions to enhance swift response of personnel most especially in areas where snatching of ballot boxes, distruption of electoral process and violence were foresaw as this would boost the morale of voters who are committed to casting their ballots while relying on adequate security provisions to enhance the peaceful conduct of the elections.

“It is noteworthy to commend the collaborations and effective intervention of Joint Election Monitoring Team led by the Nigeria Police; the Service Commanders in the Nigerian Army, NSCDC, Federal Road Safety Safety Commission, Immigration Service, DSS amongst others came out en masse in full regalia to monitor the elections; officers and men deployed to various Polling Units, Collation Centers and those on patrol were all professional in providing enabling environment for the voters to exercise their Civil Responsibilities and cast their ballots. I must say that this Coordination, Synergy and effective intervention of security in flash points and other identified crisis prone areas is a commendable one and a pointer to our preparedness for the success of the upcoming 11th March Governorship Elections in Rivers State “.

“My advice to the the State and non State actors is that election results should be received with the spirit of sportsmanship, the youth must shun Pre-Election, Election and Post Election Violence and embrace peaceful coexistence. The NSCDC Rivers State Command will not relent in carrying out her Core Mandate by Safeguarding all Critical National Assets and Infrastructures in the State, Vandalism or destruction of public and private properties will not be tolerated as we continue to protect lives and property before, during and after the 2023 Elections”
