Training has been described as a very vital regiment in Nigerian Army.
The General Officer Commanding, GOC, Six Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt Rivers State, Major General Jamal Abdussalam who made this known at the closing ceremony of six Division Inter Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non commissioned Officers Competition 2023, in Elele Rivers State charged participants to leverage on the gains to build an enviable career.
The Inter Brigade Competition was for Warrant Officers and Senior Non commissioned officers drawn from four formations of Six Division Nigerian Army.
The formations that participated were Six Division Garison, Two Bridges Akwa Ibom, Sixteen Brigade Bayelsa and Sixty three Brigade Delta.
The Officers competed in five different games including, Obstacle Crossing, Combat Swimming, Map Reading, Weapon Handling and Drills.
At the end of the five days exercise, Six Division Garison emerged overall winner, followed by Sixteen Brigade, Sixty three Brigade took the third position while Two Brigade brought up the rear and went home with the wooden spoon.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the General Officer Commanding, GOC, Six Division Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam stressed the importance of training in the Army.
Represented by the Training Officer Six Division, Brigadier General Muhammed Lawan, the GOC noted that the competition was to make the officers combat ready.
On his part, the Chief umpire of the competition, Lieutenant Colonel Mustapha Bello expressed optimism that the competition has prepared the officers for the tasks ahead.
Lieutenant Colonel Bello appreciated participants and officials for their contributions towards the success of the games.
High point of the event was presentation of medals and trophies to winners.
