6 Division Garrison Nigerian Army has seized a petroleum truck laden with forty-five thousand liters of crude oil alongside three occupants.
The seizure and arrest of the suspects took place at a pipeline right of way between Obiri Ikwere flyover and Airport in Port Harcourt Rivers State.
Speaking to Newsmen at the scene, the Commander Six Division Garrison Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Brigadier General Eddie Effiong attributed the arrest to an intelligence tip off.
Brigadier General Effiong expressed shock over the audacity of the suspects to engage in such illegal act in the heart of the town within a business environment.
He explained that the suspects dug a hole six feet deep, connected their hose to the line and siphoned crude with the aid of a pumping machine.
The Garrison Commander, who also doubles as the Commander Sector Three Operation Delta Safe, while insisting that some people within the environment were complicit to the crime, warned that the Army was determined to deal decisively with anyone engaging in illegal oil activities.
The Army General while soliciting timely and useful information from residents of the state said that the vandals would be charged to court at the end of investigation.
Other items confiscated were pumping machine and hose.
