NDDC COMMITS TO BUILDING PROJECTS WITH REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY

Executive Director Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Mr. Charles Ogunmola says the commission is committed to executing projects with regional connectivity. 

Mr. Ogunmola who made this known while on inspection of projects in Abia State, maintained that the agency would ensure that contractors stick to the terms of the contracts and deliver projects that would stand the test of time. 

The inspection was in keeping with the move by the present management of Niger Delta Development Commission to mitigate abandonment of projects across Niger Delta region.  

The nine kilometers Obehe Oke-ikpe road, Ukwa West Local Government Area Abia State, which was awarded last year would connect about five states, – Rivers, Abia, IMO, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers. 

Speaking after inspection of the road, the Executive Director Projects NDDC, Mr. Charles Ogunmola emphasized the importance of taking up projects that would link up different communities within the Niger Delta region. 

Mr. Ogunmola expressed happiness that the road has opened up the adjourning communities for economic activities to thrive. 

On his part, Director NDDC Abia State Office, Mr. Goddy Nosiri who described the road as a dream come true, explained that it was in a deplorable state for years before NDDC waded in.  

Similarly, contractor handling the project, CEO peoples Concept, Chief Dr.  Matt Offeh said they put in extra efforts to facilitate timely completion of the road. 

Mr. Offeh noted that residents of the communities provided enabling environment to facilitate the project. 

He noted that NDDC has executed many projects across communities in Niger Delta region.

Other projects inspected were one thirty-two KVA power transmission substation abandoned for more than ten years and unmotorable obehe section of Port Harcourt Aba express way, which the Executive Director Projects gave assurance that the interventionist agency would collaborate with Federal Ministry of Works and other stakeholders to find an urgent remedy.
