ENVIRONMENTALIST CALLS FOR REVIEW OF PETROLEUM INDUSTRY ACT

An Environment Journalist, Chief Constance Meju has called for the review of the Petroleum Industry Act, P.I.A. by the Government.
Chief Meju who is the Coordinator, Centre for Environment Media Development Communications, CEMEDEC; in a Community related Program on Treasure FM; said the Government needs to check if the PIA is working for the three parties involved which are the Government, the Multinational and the Oil bearing Communities.
The Environmentalist also called for sincerity on the part of the Oil Companies in dealing with their host communities.
Chief Constance Meju decried the poor infrastructure that oil bearing communities suffer and called for the Government and the Multinationals to rise up to their responsibilities by ensuring that the Oil bearing Communities are given good roads, quality and affordable health facilities and other basic amenities.
