The people of Obhan Anyama Community in Ogbia Local Government Area Bayelsa State have thrown their weight behind the Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, to succeed.
The people expressed the support during a reception in the community for his reappointment as the Managing Director, insisting that Dr. Ogbuku’s performance is an indication of his determination to ensure development of hinter lands in Niger Delta region.
The atmosphere at Obhan Anyama community in Ogbia Local Government Area Bayelsa State was lit, as the residents including youths, women and traditional rulers rolled out the drums to celebrate one of their illustrious sons, the managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku for his reappointment by President Bola Tinubu.
What was more fascinating about his reappointment was that it was the third time within a year, having been appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, but when the Board of NDDC was desolved after the election of President Tinubu, he was retained as Acting Managing Director pending the constitution of a substantive board.
Incidentally, when the substantive board was constituted he was reappointed as the Managing Director.
Chairman Central Planning Committee of the reception, Chief Olali Marline who read the address of the Community gave assurance of the determination of the people to stand behind their son to succeed as the Chief Executive Officer of NDDC.
Chief Marline noted that the journey to the exalted position did not come easy, as there were oppositions and propagandas from different quarters but he was favoured.
The Committee Chairman who was optimistic of the ability of Dr. Ogbuku to bring infrastructural Development in communities in Niger Delta region, prayed that God would protect and guide him to deliver on his mandate.
Similarly, Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva acknowledged that the Managing Director has made remarkable impact in different parts of Niger Delta region.
According to him, it was important to prepare young people for bigger assignments in the society.
He called on Ogbia people to support the administration of Ogbuku giving the enormity of task before him as the Managing Director of NDDC.
In an acceptance speech, Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku expressed happiness over the gesture noting that it came with responsibilities.
The Managing Director told the people that he was prepared to provide capacity building, women empowerment and youth development.
He gave assurance that efforts would be made to raise other people from the community to be able to bring in their competences to sustain the development of the clan.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Interventionist Agency who called on the people to eschew politics and unite to move the community forward, maintained that without peace and synergy the community would not develop.
High point of the occasion was conferment of chieftaincy title on Dr. Ogbuku as the Edi one, of Obhan Anyama, meaning the pillar of Obhan Anyama.
