Parents and Guardians have been advised to use the appropriate channel in registering their complains about misdeeds by Principals and teachers in any primary school or secondary school in Rivers State, instead of always commenting on facebook.

The Commissioner in charge of Services at Rivers state Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Precious Baridoh, who gave the advice while speaking with our correspondent in Port Harcourt, emphasised that the board does not tolerate any misdeed and had taken punitive measures against erring Principals and teachers in various schools in the state.

Mr. Baridoh however, explained that in some schools, parents and the school authorities agreed on some amount the parents can pay to assist in meeting some needs in the schools.

On measures to address the shortage of teachers, Mr. Baridoh said the UBE Board in the state has a proposal for the conversion of staff who were employed with lower qualification, but had acquired higher certificates while on the job.

The UBE Board Commissioner who frowned at the destruction of school facilities in various communities, urged the communities where schools are sited, to take ownership of such schools and protect their facilities from being vandalized.

Mr. Baridoh said the board had continually organized trainings for teachers in the state to update their knowledge on teaching.
