VISUALLY IMPAIRED URGED TO MAKE GOOD USE OF FACILITIES FOR ENHANCING POTENTIALS

People living with visual impairment have been advised to make good use of the facilities within their reach to enhance their potential in life.

The chairman, National Association of the Blind, NAB Rivers State Chapter Mr. Chigozie Amuda said this in Port Harcourt at the event to commemorate 2023 International White Cane and Safety Day.

Mr. Amuda who explained that the White Cane is one of the instruments which guide the blind to safety stressed the significance of the observance.

Two members of the association who are also visually impaired, Mr. Chigo Ikeagwu and Miss Sophia Chukwudera pleaded with the government to come up with programmes to offer them a sense of belonging in the community.

Organizations present at the event to mark the International White Cane and Safety Day, were the Rotary Club Asara district, Lavinda Eye Clinic and others.

The theme of this year’s International White Cane and Safety Day observance is Protect your Eyes.
