NIGERIAN ARMY DISTRIBUTES PALLIATIVES AND BOOKS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF RIVERS STATE

General Officer Commanding, GOC,  6 Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Major General Jamal Abdussalam says Nigerian Army is committed to safety of lives and property as well as protection of critical National assets in Niger Delta Region. 

Major General Abdussalam who made this known during the distribution of palliatives to widows, orphanage homes and schools in Eleme Local Government Area Rivers State, expressed happiness that activities of cultists in the area have been clamped down.

Represented by the Commanding Officer 29 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Manger, the GOC told the people that the palliatives were meant to straighten Civil Military collaborations,  as part of non kinetic operations of  Exercise Still Waters 111.

According to him, the Army has distributed ten thousand note books to seven secondary school, donated food items to about four orphanages in different parts of Rivers State. 

Reacting to the development, the paramount ruler of Ebubu Community, His Royal Highness, Chief Godwin Chiwi who described the gesture as unprecedented, acknowledged that the presence of Army saved them from incessant cult attacks. 

Two of the students, John Michael and Judith Aforji while appreciating the Army said it would motivate them to greater heights. 

Similarly, the Matron of the Orphanage, Sister Chika Maria applauded the move by Nigerian Army, admitting that it would solve feeding problems in the orphanage and give the children a sense of belonging. 

Some of the items donated include, bags of rice, garri and noodles.
