As the world celebrate the love which embodies the Christmas period, some persons with disabilities have expressed pleasure that they were given a sense of belonging at this season of celebration.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, they described the gift of mattresses and food items as heartwarming.
People have been called upon to refrain from discriminating against persons with disabilities.
The Chairman of Persons with disabilities, Ahoada East local government chapter, Mr. Seji Nwabueze, their women leader, Comrade Bridget Eyikpo and one other, made this known while expressing delight at the inclusion of the community of persons with disabilities by their Local Government Chairman, Mr. Ben Eke.
Comrade Eyikpo said such acts, could improve the mental and social state of persons with disabilities.
On her part, seventy three years old blind inmate of the Catholic Home for the Elderly, Port Harcourt, Mrs. Mabel Kalio, praised the Rivers State Government for seeing to their needs at the Home.
Meanwhile, the Ahoada East local Government Council Chairman, Mr. Ben Eke said persons with disabilities were also useful to the society, as such, they should not be neglected.
Mr. Eke also called for prayers and peaceful coexistence amongst residents in the State, to foster more development.
